Overview
‘Goal Tracker’ is a web app created as part of an UNSW research project, enabling research tracking into encouraging healthy eating habits.
Defining the problem
This app was created within a tight schedule of a week for design, due to budget constraints and the need to produce a usable application to begin the next phase of research.
We began defining the scope from a pre-prepared paper questionnaire, which I distilled down into a rough UX flow, which we could annotate and ask questions as a group.
Examples of forms to track symptoms for sufferers
The challenges were:
to keep the user’s data private, as part of the nature of the study
allowing an admin user to look at user’s data globally, and to intervene and provide support if needed
to compress the user experience into a short set of screens, as to encourage daily use and updates
The resulting designs were iterated on with feedback from the conductor of the study, and once the interface and functionality were finalised, we created the backend for storing data. We decided to host the app online, as opposed as building on iOS or Android, as the study would not be continued indefinitely, and hosting could be switched off as the study was concluded.
